NBA Star James Harden Arrested on Misdemeanor Gun Charge

Cleveland Cavaliers prominent guard, James Harden, was recently apprehended in Houston on a misdemeanor weapon offense, later being discharged on bail. This event transpired early Saturday morning following a traffic interception where law enforcement officials reportedly observed a firearm within his vehicle.

Reports indicate that the 36-year-old athlete, identified as Harden, was traveling through downtown Houston with four other individuals when their vehicle was pulled over around 3:40 a.m. An officer, upon noticing a handgun in the cup holder of Harden's Mercedes, initiated the arrest. Harden acknowledged possession of the weapon and was subsequently processed at Harris County Jail. He has since been released on bond and is slated for a court appearance on June 22nd. Harden, a six-time All-NBA First Team selection and the 2017-18 league MVP, is currently with his sixth NBA team. He joined the Cavaliers on February 4th in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers, a deal that sent guard Darius Garland and a 2026 second-round draft pick to the Clippers. With the Cavaliers, he has averaged 20.5 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds across 26 games. Over the entire season, his averages stand at 23.6 points, 8.0 assists, and 4.8 rebounds in 70 games. Throughout his 17-season career, spanning 1,221 games, Harden has maintained averages of 24.0 points, 7.3 assists, and 5.6 rebounds, having played for teams such as the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Clippers, and Cavaliers since being drafted third overall in 2009.
